Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios has received the go-ahead for a proposed space pavilion at the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Manchester, UK.

Work will soon begin on the 1,000m² visitor centre, which will feature a Galaxy Maze shaped like the Milky Way in the building's landscaped garden.

The maze will provide visitors with a panoramic view of the 76m-high Lovell Telescope in East Cheshire, according to the UK Press Association.

The centre will provide space for exhibitions, events and educational visits, and features a glass-walled cafe.

The centre is phase I of a wider redevelopment and construction project at the observatory, which is part of Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics.

The Northwest Regional Development Agency provided £3.1m ($4.5m) for the project.
