Work is on schedule at the new $123m federal courthouse building in Austin, Texas, in the US.
The eight-storey courthouse, which will have eight courtrooms and chambers covering an area of 252,420ft², is being funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Work on the concrete skeleton of the first floor, which will house a large ceremonial courtroom and the US District Clerk’s office, is underway.
The shell of the underground parking and basement level have been completed.
Many green building techniques were incorporated into the design, such as the use of natural light and a rainwater collection system.
The building will be completed in 2012, according to statesman.com.
