The University of Oregon in the US will soon get a new multimillion-dollar building funded by Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

The the new addition to the university's athletic department has been approved by Oregon's state board of higher education.

The proposed 100,000ft² area will be added to the existing Casanova and Moshofsky centres to the west of Autzen Stadium.

The project also includes a new field, stands and scoreboard for the soccer and lacrosse programmes, and a parking facility.

Construction is expected to get underway this year and be complete by February 2013, according to the Associated Press.
