Australia's DMA Group Architects will design a new office building for the Dalian Electric Power Bureau in Dalian, China.

The practice was selected following an international design competition.

The 53,000m² building will be located on reclaimed harbour land.

The building embraces low-energy initiatives and features a twin-wall façade system to insulate the building. Other green initiatives include passive solar orientation, a narrow building depth, rainwater collection and landscape irrigation, and a green roof.

The scheme will receive natural ventilation, while low-energy light fittings and water-saving technology will be used, according to architectureanddesign.com.au.

The design will feature a low-rise podium structure and entrance forecourt with a wharf-like water feature.
