Kasian-Moriyama Architects has been appointed to design a new city hall building and civic plaza in north Surrey, Canada.

The C$50m (US$47m) development aims to revitalise the city's commercial centre.

The proposed 180,000ft² city hall will be built east of University Boulevard and will also feature the adjoining 5,000-seat civic plaza.

Construction is set to begin in 2011 and will complete in 2013, according to the Vancouver Sun.
