A new 500-seat performing arts centre is planned for New South Wales, Australia, following approval from the local Wyong Council.

The building, worth A$24m (US$21m), will be officially called the Central Coast Arts and Conference Centre and is expected to replace the existing memorial hall.

The centre will also feature a 150-seat studio, cafe and rehearsal rooms, gallery, meeting room and permanent administration area as well, according to express-advocate.com.

Funding for the project is expected to be secured from the federal government, the state government, the Wyong council and community, business and private sectors.
