UK-based practice Richard Murphy Architects has submitted a planning application for the renovation of Perth Theatre in Perth, Scotland.

The revamp will involve the creation of a new studio theatre along with restoration of the existing, grade B-listed auditorium.

Later additions to the original theatre will be demolished to create a new triple-height foyer space containing a bar, restaurant and box office.

The enlarged theatre will feature a reflective metal and glass studio, which accommodates a flexible open-plan space with retractable seating.

The brick walls of the original theatre will be encased, while navigation will be improved with a new staircase and circulation routes, according to urbanrealm.co.uk.
