Work on the new $642m baseball stadium in Miami, Florida, US, is almost complete and on schedule to open in April 2012.

Work has begun on a retractable roof of the helix-shaped stadium, which is used by baseball team Florida Marlins.

The sustainable stadium will feature a public plaza, parking garages and retail spaces including a 8,000ft² restaurant.

The facility is expected to become the first LEED-certified stadium with a retractable roof in the country, according to miamiherald.com.
