Hendrix College’s Student Life and Technology Center in Arkansas, US, which was built at a cost of $26m, has received LEED Gold certification from the Green Building Institute.
Notable improvements in the building include drought-tolerant vegetation, a light-deflecting roof, natural light and water-saving facilities.
The building reduces water use by 60% by installing sensor taps, and provides a healthy work environment through indoor air quality control. Natural light filters in thanks to an innovative window design and recycled materials have been used throughout.
The 77,000ft² building, which opened in January, includes the Oathout Educational Technology Center and numerous specialised technology clusters, a student dining room, and a social gathering and activity area for students.
