The Israel Museum in Jerusalem is to reopen this month, following a three-year facilities upgrade programme.

The $100m renovation project involved the overhaul of a 20-acre campus, including reorganisation and expansion of gallery spaces, and layout and display areas.

The expansion of the museum, founded in 1965, nearly doubled the exhibition space to 19,000m² and added another 85,000m² of gallery area, reports Xinhua.

Other new developments include the Jewish art exhibition hall, an archeology ward, a synagogue, and as three new entrances and an entrance hall.
