Director of London-based Brady Mallalieu Architects Angela Brady has won the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) presidential election to become the 74th RIBA president.

Brady is the second woman to take the chair and will succeed current president Ruth Reed.

Brady will serve under Reed as president-elect from September this year, until her formal accession on 1 September 2011.

The architect beat Bristol architecture professor Richard Parnaby and RIBA honorary treasurer Roger Shrimplin to win the election, reports architectsjournal.co.uk.
