Work on the Darling Walk project at Darling Harbour in New South Wales, Australia, is scheduled to be complete by mid 2011.
The A$500m (US$450.7m) mixed-use project is a partnership between Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Bovis Lend Lease.
The project will feature over 55,000m² of office space, new pedestrian links, new public playground and community green space and 4,000m² of interactive water feature playground.
It will also feature 600 public parking spaces and a rejuvenated retail precinct with 5,000m² of retail space.
The building facing Harbour Street will be known as Commonwealth Bank Place and will house more than 5,000 Commonwealth Bank employees upon completion.
The surrounding public playground, community green, retail space and car park will be renamed Darling Quarter.
The new development has incorporated several energy and water-efficient strategies in the design, reports architectureanddesign.com.au.
