International architectural practice Rafael Viñoly Architects has been selected to design the new Edward M Kennedy Institute in Massachusetts, US.
The $60m institute will be located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Boston, next to the John F Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.
The new facility, expected to achieve LEED certification will feature a senate chamber representation, classrooms, a library, exhibit hall and an illuminated lobby.
The 40,000ft² project features large expanse of outdoor public space with geometric connections to the adjacent JFK Library and the waterfront.
Boston contractor Lee Kennedy will deliver the project, which is slated to open in 2013.
