Work will begin on the expansion of the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Scotland, UK, which has been designed by BDP Architects.

The £85m ($133.7m) expansion is the final phase of the city’s Exchange master plan, according to urbanrealm.co.uk.

The final plan will accommodate a 2,000m² hall and 186,000ft² of office space along with an underground extension with a moving floor system.

A separate office building is located above the main hall and features a seven-storey-high atrium and a 15m cantilever, while an entrance pavilion links the elements.

The building is expected to be complete in 2013.
