The UK Government has approved plans for the new headquarters of the local council in the City of York in the UK.

The proposed £32m ($50.2m) scheme will be housed in a building that previously functioned as a railway station.

The building, which is currently being refurbished, is expected to complete in 2013.

The project has received listed building consent from the government.
