A Chinese developer has unveiled plans to build an exact replica of Spanish painter Salvador Dali's home town in Xiamen Bay in China.

Developer China Merchants Zhangzhou visited the painter's home town of Cadaques in Spain to take measurements for the recreation.

The company also found a site for the proposed development similar to the original location, featuring sloping hills and a sheltered bay.

The planned fishing town is expected to house 15,000 inhabitants and will also house the artists home, which will feature an egg sculpture atop it.

Work on the project is expected to start in September or October this year, according to the Guardian.
