Aberdeen City Council in Scotland, UK, has received design proposals for a new stadium at Loirston Loch from the local Scottish Premier League (SPL) football club.

An Aberdeen FC spokesperson said the £40m ($62.6m), state-of-the-art 21,000 seater sports stadium was designed by the Miller Partnership and will provide an iconic landmark to the southern gateway of the city.

“The UEFA category 3 development will feature hospitality suites; facilities for the players, supporters, the wider community; housing club offices; car and coach parking; and a club museum,” the spokesperson said.

“Horizontal bands of colour will also ensure the stadium is recognisable from many view points while a clear roof edge will allow for natural light to flood the seating deck and the whole facility will be lit by a red glow at night.”

Other advantages of the new facility include increased pitch dimensions fully enclosed on all sides and the continuous bowl and roof design.
