Pelli Clarke Pelli has received planning consent from local authorities for a proposed glass building in New York, US.

The 363m-high building, 18m shorter than the Empire State Building, will be built two blocks away from the landmark.

The scheme faced fierce opposition from Malkin Holdings, the owner of the Empire State Building, as they believe the building will ruin the city’s skyline.

The $3bn tower is being developed by Vornado Realty Trust, according to bdonline.co.uk.
