Plans have been unveiled to renovate the London Road Stadium in Peterborough, UK.

The £9.5m ($14.6m) renovation will involve transformation of its Moy's End stand to house a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education facility.

Designed by FWP architects, the STEM facility, in a glass-fronted building, will be located on the corner of the Moy's End and the main stand.

Stadium terraces will be transformed into a 4,000 all-seater stand which is expected to be open by 2012/13.

The Peterborough Delivery Partnership, leading the project on behalf of the city council, will submit a planning application by the end of the year.

The government has provided £7m ($10.7m) of funding towards the project, according to peterboroughtoday.co.uk.
