The planned 11 September Museum in New York, US, will open in 2011.

The $45m museum is being built below the eight-acre memorial plaza with building materials recovered from the destroyed World Trade Center (WTC) site.

Currently, two steel columns salvaged from the WTC rubble are being permanently installed at the entrance of the museum.

The 70ft columns have been taken from the wreckage of the north tower and weigh 50t each, reports the Associated Press.
