International architectural practice OMA has been selected to design a new library, the Bibliothèque Multimédia à Vocation Régionale in Caen, France.

The 12,000m² building will be located at the tip of Caen's peninsula and includes four protruding wings that point towards city landmarks.

The library consists of two intersecting reading rooms while the exterior spaces lead to a park, pedestrian pathway and a waterfront plaza.

Large windows span the reading rooms to provide natural light, creating the ideal reading environment.
