Plans for a 40m-high Heart of Africa Biodome at Chester Zoo, England, have received the green light.

The £225m ($350m) biodome was given the go-ahead by Cheshire West and Chester Council and will now be assessed by the government.

The work which will include a 150-room hotel and underwater exhibit buildings as well as the Africa rainforest, an entrance village, new road access road and a remodelled car park.

The scheme is touted as biggest biodome in Europe and is larger than the Grimshaw-designed Tropical House at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
