Consortium Wins US Park Revamp Scheme

A consortium led by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates has been selected to revamp the grounds of the St Louis Arch in Missouri, US. The consortium comprising Steven Holl Architects, James Carpenter and Guy Nordenson and Associates beat four other finalists to win the scheme: The City

A consortium led by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates has been selected to revamp the grounds of the St Louis Arch in Missouri, US.

The consortium comprising Steven Holl Architects, James Carpenter and Guy Nordenson and Associates beat four other finalists to win the scheme: The City+The Arch+The River 2015.

Work involves revamping the area around the arch and improving the connections to the city.

Additional features include an amphitheatre, a bird sanctuary intersected by an elevated walkway and an outdoor ice rink.

The project is expected to be complete by 2015, according to fastcodesign.com.
