US-based Soma Architects has unveiled the designs for the proposed Islamic community centre and mosque in New York, US.

The building is expected to be located near Ground Zero in lower Manhattan.

The façade facing Park Place appears similar to the earlier design, featuring a lattice-like edifice with conventionally shaped windows.

The roofline features an apex at one corner, contrasting with the square corners of the opposite side.

The lace-like motif interiors extend into the walls and ceiling of the structure connected by escalators while the geometric patterns in the floor are similar to the exterior façade.

Developer Park 51 is yet to raise the estimated $100m needed for construction, according to examiner.com.
