Swiss architect Peter Zumthor has been appointed to design next year’s annual Serpentine Pavilion in London’s Hyde Park.
The construction of a pavilion is an annual fixture for the London art and architecture circuit, and a highlight for visitors to the park.
The Pritzker Prize winner’s initial proposal reveals a concrete block with a garden in it.
Zumthor is expected to enhance his initial design over the coming months, according to architectsjournal.co.uk.
Architects that designed past pavilions include Frank Gehry in 2008, Rem Koolhaas in 2006, Oscar Niemeyer in 2003 and Zaha Hadid in 2000.
