Work on the $125m expansion for the proposed Kimbell Art Museum expansion in Texas, US, will begin next year.

The new building - West Pavilion - has been designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, while the original Kimbell structure was designed by Louis Kahn.

The project will house exhibition and office spaces, an underground parking garage and an auditorium.

A few changes have been made to the original design by Piano; the berm that covers the back portion of the building now extends all the way from Camp Bowie Boulevard to Lancaster Avenue.

The project will be complete in 2013, according to star-telegram.com.
