Ground-breaking on the Vietinbank Tower in Ha Noi, Vietnam, has taken place, following the securing of funding for the project.

Vietinbank will finance the entire $400m cost of the project, which had been delayed due to a lack of funding.

The building will include a 68-storey tower for offices, a 48-storey tower for hotels, and a shopping centre.

The project has been designed by UK-based Foster + Partners and US-based firm Turner has been chosen as the project supervisor.

The environmentally friendly building is equipped with modern technologies that allow the structure to use 35% less energy than comparable buildings.

The tower complex will be complete in 2014, according to VNS.
