US-based infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has won a contract from Zephyr to develop a $62m luxury condominium tower project at the Bankers Hill neighbourhood in San Diego, California.
The tower, to be built under the Park Bankers Hill project will feature 14 storeys and be located beside Balboa Park.
It will include 62 residential units covering a gross area of 142,289ft², along with 4,528ft² of retail space and a three-level underground parking garage with 144 spaces.
Construction of the building, which shares the same city block and lot line with The Abbey, will not obstruct pedestrian access. The developers will maintain strict measures to ensure safety of the passersby, Balfour Beatty said.
The park project will also feature multiple on-site amenities such as a swimming pool and spa, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, and a yoga studio, as well as outdoor lounge areas with gas fire pits, and a Club Room.
In addtion, Balfour Beatty is developing a gourmet kitchen to facilitate hosting and catering events.
Balfour Beatty Construction Southwest Division president Brian Cahill said: "Having successfully delivered mid and high-rise multi-family projects in Los Angeles and Northern California, the park project is a perfect segue into the growing San Diego luxury condominium market.
"This high-profile project represents the merging of modern architecture, sophisticated interior design and peerless views, while incorporating some of the highest quality finishes available in the market today.
"The finished product will serve as a centerpiece in the Bankers Hill community, and we are proud to participate in its development."
Designs for the type one high-rise project have been prepared by Dialog Design from Vancouver, Canada.
Construction works are expected to be completed by June 2017, after starting in September this year.
