Barwa Real Estate has unveiled three new projects called Oryx Island, Gulf Resort, and Dara at Cityscape Qatar 2013 in Doha.
Oryx Island will be a pedestrian development, featuring villas, an aqua park, and five floating hotels, which is expected to cost QR20bn ($5.4bn).
Currently at the conceptual design phase, the Oryx Island project is planned to be completed in seven to eight years and after completion will accommodate around 25,000 people.
The Gulf Resort will be developed on a 250ha site featuring a natural harbour, three hotels and a shopping mall.
Located in Fox Hills, Lusail, Dara is a 176,000m² residential development featuring 53 buildings and 1,000 apartments.
Dara will be divided into two zone; Zone 1 will feature residential facilities and Zone 2 will contain a mix of commercial and residential areas.
Expected to cost approximately QR8bn ($2.1bn), the Dara project will also feature restaurants, hotels, shopping outlets, a transportation system, day-care centres and fitness centres.
Barwa Real Estate Group CEO Abdulla Abdulaziz al-Subaie was quoted by gulf-times.com as saying that the Dara project will be targeted at high-end customers.
"It will be of great interest to investors as the project will be within walking distance of the stadium for the opening and closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022," al-Subaie said.
Apart from the three new projects, Barwa Real Estate has also unveiled the Ottomare project at Cityscape Qatar 2013.
Planned to be built in Turkey, the Ottomare project will feature 391 residential units after its scheduled completion in the third quarter of 2013.
Prior to Barwa Real Estate, Ezdan Holding also unveiled new projects at Cityscape Qatar 2013, which include the VIP Village, the Smart villages, the Al Shamal Complex and Al Rayyan Towers.
