UK-based architectural firm Broadway Malyan has acquired Chile-based interior design practice Antonio Prado Arquitectura Comercial.

The acquisition is part of Broadway Malyan’s strategy to expand its business in Latin America, and both firms have worked together on several projects in Chile since 2010.

Antonio Prado Arquitectura Comercial works in the Chilean retail sector with clients including Hewlett Packard, telecoms firm Movistar, fashion brand Forever 21, Cencosud, Ripley, and Banca Ripley.

As part of the transaction, Broadway Malyan director Jorge Ponce Dawson will lead the team in Chile and will continue to head the company’s Madrid-based team in Spain.

Antonio Prado will become director of architecture and head the local team.

Dawson said that Antonio Prado Arquitectura has a good reputation in the national and regional retail sector, with an impressive project portfolio and client base.

"Our objective is to ensure that our combined team of world-class design experts is the partner of choice for current and new clients in Chile and Spanish-speaking Latin America, as well as the wider region, across a wide range of sectors including masterplanning and mixed use," Dawson said.

Broadway Malyan’s projects in Chile include the concept and schematic design for Portal Bio-Bio, a 70,000m² commercial centre for Cencosud.
