Dewan Architects & Engineers has secured a contract from real-estate developer Al Bayt to develop 500,000m² Khobar mixed-use development in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
The latest development represents Al Bayt’s 57th project, with the company delivering the rest over the last 20 years.
Planned to be built along the King Saud Road, and in close proximity to Khobar’s waterfront promenade, the mixed-use development will be developed on a 40,000m² site with a total floor area of around 500,000m².
The project, known as Al Bayt 57, will feature nine 22-storey towers, including a hotel and 1,500 two, three, four-bedroom and penthouse apartments.
Al Bayt 57 is expected to be complete in 2015 and will also feature office space and a Galleria retail mall of 25,000m².
The entire development will be built atop a two-storey podium and a basement which, along with the ground floor, which can together house 2,500 cars and other amenities such as driver-rooms, storage areas and service corridors for the mall and hotel.
Other features of the project include energy management systems, rooftop pools and gymnasiums.
A landscaped plaza will be located between the residential towers, which will form an entry threshold at the ground level, creating controlled outdoor areas.
Dewan Architects executive director Ammar Al Assam said Al Bayt 57 would serve as a benchmark for several future developments in the region.
"The unique design, composition, size and grandeur of Al Bayt 57 mixed-use development will define it one of the kingdom’s most iconic projects," Al Assam said.
