A subsidiary of Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI), Drake & Scull Engineering (DSE) has won an AED123m ($33.4m) contract for a mixed-use development in the Jumeirah district of Dubai, UAE.

The project involves construction of more than 72,000m² of food and beverage (F&B) concepts and retail outlets, along with its shell and core parking facilities.

DSE is expected to complete the beachfront retail zone complex within next year.

"A retail project of such prominence and scale is a significant challenge for our engineering division and will be an eminent addition to our high-profile portfolio."

Under the terms of the contract, the firm will be responsible for supplying, installing, testing, commissioning, and handover of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for the development.

DSE managing director Ahmad Al Naser said: "The project award continues our project winning trend in the UAE, which includes our recent key project wins like the AED395m Jewel of the Creek mixed-use development in Port Saeed, the AED290m luxury, mixed-use development in Downtown Dubai, and the AED334m iconic luxury hotel and residences on The Palm Jumeirah.

"A retail project of such prominence and scale is a significant challenge for our engineering division and will be an eminent addition to our high-profile portfolio.

"Our experience with large-scale retail developments such as the ongoing Mall of Emirates expansion in Dubai, as well as the rapidly progressing Mall of Qatar in Doha will prove vital in the construction of this project."

Earlier this month, the firm announced it had won two more projects in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait totalling AED96.1m ($25.3m).
