Real estate firm Duke Realty has completed a $110m redevelopment of Navistar International’s corporate headquarters campus in Lisle, Illinois, US.
The project, which started in January 2011, included the reconstruction of 1.2 million feet squared of space in interconnected buildings, 27,000ft² of new construction and overall improvements to the 87-acre site.
The work included remodelling all office space and lobbies, repairing and upgrading mechanical and electrical systems, refurbishing building exteriors and parking areas, landscaping and constructing lab space.
Duke Realty senior vice president of Chicago operations Steve Schnur said the project had created a large number of local construction jobs.
"Working together we were able to rehabilitate a long-vacant property and convert it into a state-of-the-art corporate campus that can efficiently accommodate Navistar’s work force," Schnur said.
The project, which was finished in 12 stages for phased-in occupancy over a one-year period, now features a new 8,000ft² gallery at the main lobby and a 15,000ft² technology design centre.
Duke was also responsible for the installation of new landscaping, including 600 trees and 5,000 shrubs, reconfiguration and repaving of parking areas to house 2,000 vehicles and recycling of existing building materials and reuse of ceilings and light fixtures.
The company carried out retro-commissioning of building systems, including repairs and upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, and the installation of a new building automation system.
Navistar purchased the Alcatel-Lucent East Campus for $34m in December 2010.
