Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has secured a AED275m ($74.8m) contract from Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) to carry out the next phase of the Jafza One-Jafza convention centre complex in Jebel Ali, Dubai.
The project will be carried out at one of the convention centre’s two twin-tower commercial buildings, located at Sheikh Zayed Road, which will accommodate over 450 offices spread across an area of 72,200m².
Under the project, HLG will complete the fit-out of one of the twin-towers and provide associated external road works.
HLG began work on the Jafza One-Jafza convention centre Complex in 2007 when the company first partnered with Jafza to deliver the AED1.9bn ($517m) project.
The project features a convention centre, a hotel, commercial towers and associated exhibition and recreation facilities.
Office floors will house exhibition halls, a conference room, break out area, service corridor, mechanical room, food court and a data centre office.
Work on the commercial tower and external roads has started and the project is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2014.
HLG CEO and managing director José Antonio López-Monís said, "HLG is looking forward to delivering this project to Jafza’s high standards and working with Jafza to reach an agreement regarding completion of the remaining elements of the Convention Centre later this year."
Jafza, established in 1985, currently houses more than 7,000 companies globally and is claimed to be a major driver of the UAE economy.
