The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has selected housebuilder Redrow Homes as its development partner for Nethermayne regeneration scheme in Basildon, Essex, UK.
The project includes construction of 725 new homes, a new primary school, public open spaces and highways improvements.
Plans also include construction of a new town centre college and market, as well as expansion land for St Luke’s Hospice.
Outline planning consent for 725 homes was resolved for approval in June 2013 and a detailed planning application is anticipated to be submitted by Redrow in late 2013 / early 2014.
Redrow Homes managing director for the South East Keith Parrett said the company will work with the HCA, Basildon Borough Council and South Essex College to bring new housing to the area.
"We believe that this location has great potential for a sustainable new neighbourhood, which would make a considerable contribution to meeting local housing needs and have a strong emphasis on quality family homes," Parrett said.
"In addition, we believe our proposed development would boost the local economy with the injection of money and circa 1,000 jobs during construction and will bring wider economic benefits to existing shops and facilities."
HCA said some initial investigation and site survey works will be undertaken across the site from mid-August.
HCA senior area manager Mike Goulding said, "Redrow submitted a high-quality proposal for the site and we look forward to working with them to deliver around 700 new homes for Basildon."
