Denmark-based Henning Larsen Architects has secured a contract to design a new stadium for the football club Sandnes Ulf in Norway.
The new stadium will feature a sports centre, a school, a fitness centre, a rehabilitation centre, and an amphitheatre.
Henning Larsen said the notable feature of the stadium is the slim and pronounced frame, which is elevated over a functional base.
The frame is built as a light steel structure covered in a light and white perforated plastic canvas.
The steel structure will separate the grandstand from the base, which will be constructed in a heavy material like brick or concrete.
Upon completion, the school will face towards a residential area and will adapt to the existing scale of the buildings.
A large recreational area will link the new school with the existing one.
The new Sandnes Ulf stadium will be located alongside the existing forest, which works as a natural wind-breaker, ensuring a better micro climate in, and surrounding, the stadium and the school.
Sandnes Ulf football club, which began in Norway’s top league in 2011, will also use the new stadium.
