Henning Larsen Architects has prequalified in the design competition for the development of a residential area in Bellahøj, Copenhagen, Denmark.
The project includes collaboration with four other firms, Erik Møller Architects, GHB Landscape Architects, Orbicon Consulting Engineers and Rekommanderet Process Consultants.
The competition aims to secure an overall vision; to renovate and upgrade the residential area and to preserve the architectural heritage of the facilities and site.
Participants are required to identify a consistent strategy for renovating the building facades and landscape spaces, to improve the functional and physical framework of life at Bellahøj.
The winning team will serve as advisor to the four housing associations at Bellahøj, who will implement the project.
Four of the 16 teams prequalified for the competition. The other three teams in the competition are headed by architects Arkitema, Entasis and Vandkunsten.
The Bellahøj Residences are located at one of the highest points of Copenhagen, Bellahøj.
The open park setting of the development features 28 blocks of buildings spanning nine to 13-storeys high.
