Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has formally signed the AED1.45bn ($395m) contract with Dubai International Real Estate (DIRE) to build package eight of the Jewel of the Creek mixed-use project in Port Saeed, Dubai, UAE.
The latest agreement is part of the AED3bn ($816m) Jewel of the Creek development project, and was awarded to HLG on 28 May.
In 2012, HLG was also selected for the project’s package seven, under which the company will be responsible for building the substructure works for four basement levels and ground floor slabs on the waterside site.
With package eight, HLG will build five hospitality buildings, a marina with four foot bridges and one vehicular bridge, and hard and soft landscaping works.
Among the five buildings, three will be 15-storeys high, and the remaining two will be 17-storeys and 19-storeys, respectively.
The 17-floor building will feature a five-star hotel, whereas the remaining buildings will house serviced apartments.
In addition to this, a ballroom, a conference venue and an attached cafe will also be developed.
DIRE general manager Khalil Al Sayegh said the company is pleased to have awarded package eight of the Jewel of the Creek project to HLG.
"Upcoming packages for the Jewel of the Creek project will include a four-star hotel, mixed-use residential offices and retail," Al Sayegh said.
The company has already started construction, which should be finished in 2017.
When complete, the entire project will include four and five-star hotels, furnished service apartments, a convention centre, a ballroom, office buildings, residential buildings, a marina and landscaping work.
