HN Group has started construction on a €30m luxury condominium in Cascais, Portugal, designed by UK-based architectural firm Broadway Malyan.
The 9,600m² condominium development will offer 11 luxury villas in a gated community.
HN Group completed the supporting infrastructure work on the project in early May 2012. After completion the scheme will offer pavilion-type villas.
Broadway Malyan was selected following a concept design competition in 2009 and the company has delivered the concept and detailed architecture, interiors and landscape design services for the project.
The design of the condominium is based on the concept of private and semi-public areas separated by day and night uses and orientation, with a spine wall separating the two areas.
The design of the scheme, which will rise only one storey above the ground, will offer open living on the south-facing villas with private bedrooms built with a northward orientation.
Passive solar control techniques will be incorporated in the villas through the use of large over-sailing roofs, while sliding timber panels will be used to provide shaded spaces.
The homes have been designed with an increased floor to ceiling height on the south-facing living side, resulting in more private areas on the north-facing side.
A full basement floor with large light wells will offer naturally-lit spaces, as well as car parking spaces with direct links to the villas.
Every home will also feature a private swimming pool, a decked terrace and barbecue area.
