Interserve has received a £10.6m contract from Alumno Developments to design and build two new student accommodation buildings in Leamington Spa, the UK.
The new building will be built beside the Grand Union Canal, close to the University of Warwick.
Two four-storey buildings will feature 187 bedrooms along with en-suite, standard, and studio rooms. Some of these will be wheelchair-friendly. The buildings will also feature a modern central reception area, shared common rooms, and amenity spaces to cater to students.
In addition, Interserve will make improvements to the canal-side environment and create a new green park area along the towpath.
Interserve's divisional director Simon Butler said: “Interserve has an extensive portfolio of student accommodation projects, which demonstrate the strength and capability of our teams working in partnership with private sector clients.
“At Interserve, we are committed to investing in the communities in which we work and we will be continuing to engage with the local supply chain, as well as creating new job opportunities for local people where possible.”
Work on the project has commenced and it is expected to be completed next year.
Alumno's development manager Jennifer Kot said: “The development is in close proximity to, and benefits from, good travel links to and from a world class university and our intention is to provide a welcoming and secure home for students in Leamington Spa, away from traditional residential areas while also commemorating a prominent local artist.”
