Levels two to five of the building will be refurbished and a 114-room aparthotel would be created for operator Roomzzz. This latest transformation scheme is the second phase of a £30m investment to develop the building as a leisure destination.
The building’s ground and first floor level restaurant and bar have already been refurbished and will remain in operation throughout the project’s duration.
ISG’s scheme is set to begin in mid-August this year and will see the company carrying out remedial works to the roof structure and installing a cantilevered scaffold system at first floor level. Later on, the company will make structural alterations to the building’s floor slabs to introduce new service risers.
The layout of Roomzzz Manchester Corn Exchange will use a combination of existing brick walls and new partitioning to create four room types. Facilities to be offered include a gym, lounge, and a breakfast area.
