Finland-based Kone has secured a contract from real estate firm Greenland to supply 131 elevators and 32 escalators for the Zhengzhou Eastern Center in China.

Located in the capital of Henan province in north-central China, the towers will feature office and retail space.

After completion, the complex will have a total floor area of 7.6ha featuring two 289m towers and a seven-storey shopping podium.

As per the deal, Kone will supply 12 double-deck elevators for the North and South Towers and podium.

The double-deck elevators will provide increased transportation capacity by serving two floors at once.

Kone will deliver 93 MiniSpace elevators, 26 MonoSpace elevators and 32 TravelMaster escalators.

The KONE E-link monitoring system will help manage the various elevators and escalators operating in the complex.

KONE Greater China executive vice president William Johnson said, "Continuous communication between the customer and the project team enabled us to understand the customer’s needs and provide them with the best possible solutions for the project."

Designed by the Architectural Design & Research Institute of Tongji University, the project is being built by Shanghai Construction and Zhongtian Construction.

The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2016.
