Real estate developer Nakheel has unveiled plans to construct more apartments and restaurants in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE, as part of a new project called Azure Residences.
The project will be built on the eastern shoreline at the base of the Palm’s trunk and will feature 170 apartments spread over a ten stories.
Upon completion, Azure Residences will feature 140 one-bedroom and 30 two-bedroom units, each of which will also have a maid’s room, kitchen and private terrace.
The development will feature nine restaurants including a restaurant called Breakwater, which will offer 360-degree views of the sea and city.
Plans also include a sea facing pool, a rooftop gym, 266 car parking spaces and mooring facilities for water taxis.
Construction of the project is expected to start in the middle of 2013 and complete within two years.
Nakheel said that it is expecting a growth in demand for properties on Palm Jumeirah and Azure Residences will bring more diversity to its portfolio of apartment developments in the region.
Nakheel recently revealed plans to construct 33 studio apartments as part of a new project, known as Club Vista Mare, on the Palm Jumeirah and the company said the project has sold out.
Earlier in February, Nakheel unveiled plans to construct a AED2.5bn ($680m) retail, dining, entertainment and hotel complex in Palm Jumeirah.
