Skanska has secured a $78m contract from American University (AU) to construct the new East Campus in Washington D.C and a $53m contract from the University of Kentucky to expand and renovate its Gatton College of Business and Economics building.

As per the deal with AU, Skanska will provide construction management services to build the East Campus’ six new facilities, which collectively total about 32,000m².

The new buildings are expected to secure LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

The preconstruction and design has already commenced and the new campus buildings are expected to open in late 2016.

Under the contract with University of Kentucky, Skanska will add 5,500m² and renovate around 13,000m².

Work is expected to start in November 2013 and complete in March 2016.

The company said both contracts will be included in order bookings for Skanska USA Building for the third quarter of 2013.

In June 2013, Skanska said it will invest $265m in an office building in the Seaport District in Boston, US.

The company will implement the first phase of the project at a contract value of $132m.

The project is a 17-floor office and commercial building with ground floor retail, targeting a minimum of LEED Gold certification.

PricewaterhouseCoopers has agreed to occupy around 75% of the building.
