TThe UAE Government has unveiled plans for a new city in Dubai which will feature a park 30% larger than Hyde Park in London, UK.

Located between Emirates Road, Al Khail Road and Sheikh Zayed Road, the new city, named Mohammed Bin Rashid City, will be developed in four phases.

Phase one will include a park to host 35 million visitors and a family centre for leisure and entertainment, which is claimed to be largest in the Middle East, Africa region as well as the Indian subcontinent.

To be built in collaboration with Universal Studios, the family centre will include more than 100 hotel facilities to meet the needs of visitors from the region.

Phase two will feature Mall of the World, which is claimed to be the largest shopping mall in the world and is expected to attract 80 million visitors per year.

The third phase of the project will include a large area for arts galleries and the fourth phase will see the development of an area to offer an environment for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The new city will also feature Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens Project, which will be linked to Dubai and Business Bay via a crossing to be named the "Cultural Crossing", featuring art galleries.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City will include a number of golf courses and residential areas to be constructed as per green building standards in terms of energy consumption, waste treatment and conservation of natural environment.

UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the current facilities available in Dubai need to be extended in line with the future ambitions for the city.

"Therefore we have to start work immediately on the third phase of development that is aligned to Vision 2030 and to boost the UAE economy to enable it to enter a new era in which it will become the capital of entrepreneurship, arts, culture, and family tourism for over two billion people," Al Maktoum said.

The project will be built jointly by Dubai Holding and real estate firm Emaar Properties.
