USAA Real Estate Company and Cambridge Development have broken ground on The Residences at La Cantera, a new apartment community in San Antonio, US.
Residences at La Cantera is the first phase of the multi-phase Town Center at La Cantera mixed use development featuring 4,000ft² of retail space.
Future phases of the development will include hotel, office, retail and additional multi-family space.
The first phase will include a three-acre park featuring an urban plaza, lawn, adventure playground, pond and picnic areas.
A cistern will be built next to the pond to collect the condensate water from the buildings.
The Residences at La Cantera will include 323 apartment homes constructed on five acres of land next to the newest phase of The Shops at La Cantera in San Antonio.
First phase of development will have a range of floor plans, from studio apartments to three bedrooms ranging from 553ft² to 1,785ft².
Phase one will also feature a clubhouse with a cyber cafe that will link to a resort-style pool and Jacuzzi, fitness centre with separate yoga classroom and a rooftop terrace, fire pit and outdoor kitchen.
USAA Real Estate chairman and CEO Pat Duncan said, "The Residences’ proximity to world class shopping and dining, along with top attractions and some of San Antonio’s major employers including USAA, Valero, The University of Texas at San Antonio and the South Texas Medical Center, makes it a premier location to live, work and play."
Development partners in the project include CF Jordan Construction, Pape-Dawson Engineers, Looney Ricks Kiss Architecture and architect J. Robert Anderson.
Upon completion of the project, Riverstone Residential will manage the property.
