Australian property development company Walker has selected Brookfield Multiplex for the construction of a 39-storey Tower Two building at 727 Collins Street, in Melbourne’s central business district (CBD).
Tower Two building will be the second facility built by Brookfield Multiplex under the $1.8bn Collins Square development programme, which will include a total of five towers spread over an area of 200,000m².
The $205m Tower One has 25 levels and was built in 2013. Construction of the 19-storey Tower Three building is also completed, but Towers Four and Five are yet to be developed.
All five of the towers will be connected through an integrated podium three levels above ground. Tower Two will connect to Towers One and Four, and will mainly house offices.
Brookfield Multiplex Victoria regional managing director Graham Cottam said that Walker is delivering a prestigious CBD commercial and retail development and that Brookfield is pleased to be associated with Walker on the construction of the next stage of the Collins Square development.
The Collins Square development is aiming to get a five-star Green Star Design – As Built v3 rating (for offices) and a NABERS Energy five-star rating.
The construction of Tower Two is expected to be completed in March 2016, with all the towers scheduled for completion by June 2016.
