US-based Regency Centers has broken ground on a $10m renovation of Heritage Plaza retail centre in Irvine, California.
The design of the renovation project is led by Nadel Architects and Hirsch & Associates.
Spanning 21,088m², the renovation scheme will include a new exterior façade, improved architectural components, canvas awnings, new landscaping, a new monument, wayfinding signage and wider pedestrian walkways.
The retail centre will also feature focused gathering areas with benches, al fresco dining and sidewalk eating areas.
Construction is expected to be complete in November 2011.
