Texas Tech University has broken ground on a new $45m hall of residence designed by BOKA Powell.

Covering 16,537m², the facility is being designed to fit in with the Spanish Renaissance architectural style of Texas Tech.

The new facility will feature accommodation for 516 students with private bedrooms, shared living areas and a host of other amenities.

In addition to the residence hall, a 2,043.8m&#178 two-storey dining hall, three exterior courtyards and 500 new parking spaces are also planned.

The project is expected to be completed before the late 2012 semester.
