Terrace Hill Group has secured preliminary planning consent to construct a Sainsbury’s supermarket at Riverside Road in Sunderland, and an Asda supermarket in Skelton, East Cleveland, UK.
The two retail schemes are set to receive final approval from the Department of Communities and Local Government by the end of September.
Construction on the new 60,000ft² Sainsbury’s in Sunderland, which will offer a petrol station and 537 parking spaces, is expected to start in mid 2012 with the store opening in early 2013.
The Asda development includes a new supermarket with a net sales area of 25,000ft² with 239 car spaces and a four-pump petrol station.
Construction of the Asda development is due to commence in the first quarter of 2012 and the store should be open for trade by the end of 2012.
